Residential Painting Contractors Check List

Is the company you are going to hire providing the following:

  • A Delaware Business License
  • A New Castle County Contractors License

If your contractor can not provide these two licenses, they are working illegally in the State of Delaware.

  • Proof of General Liability Insurance

If your contractor can not provide a current insurance certificate, who will pay for any damages to your property (gouges in your hardwood floors, paint spills on your carpet or even a ladder through your window) What if one of the crew injures him or herself, who pays the medical bills?

  • Have you asked about the companies employees?
  • Employee experience?
  • Are they full time employees?
  • Are they part time employees?
  • Are they sub contractors to the company you are hiring?
  • Have you seen the sub contractors Certificate of Insurance?
  • Providing a written contract describing all the work they are to do?
  • Providing a payment plan you are comfortable with?

If the contractor needs money up front, how professional can they be not being able to supply the job?

  • Providing the professionalism that you and your family feel safe with?
  • Are they concerned enough to have a safety program to protect their employees and customers?

If any of this concerns you about your contractor, it should!
